BARCELONA TOP 10

Barcelona has so much to offer you might not know where to begin. We were only in Spain for a few days, so if you're on a shorter schedule then we suggest these 10 things you must do and see! If you have more time then lucky you! We loved Barcelona and exploring its vast offerings. 

 Torre Agbar

The "cucumber" shaped building that looks real pretty when the sun hits it.

Christopher Colombus Monument

A reminder of Christopher's most famous trip while he points to his home city.

 Mercat St. Joseph

A huge public food market full of delicious goods near La Rambla.

La Sagrada Familia

Gaudi's most famous church still under construction, among his many other unique architecture sites.

Flea Market

After you visit the "cucumber" check out Barcelona's outdoor flea market for good deals on cool stuff.

 Camp Nou

If you're a soccer fan watching a game at Camp Nou is worth a trip to Barcelona alone.

Get away from the city and take a stroll on the beach to relax and watch the surfers.

La Rambla

The most happenin' street in town for food, shopping, night life, entertainment and fun!

Famous for its narrow streets, get lost in the Gothic quarter and actually be happy about it.

ADMIRING GAUDI

Sunday is usually the day we like to spotlight anything pretty or inspiring,

and who better than featuring architect Antoni Gaudi?

His work is either genius or that of a mad man.

I'm thinking it's a bit of both...

 Gaudi House

The Gaudi house is a beautiful polka dot building 

that is so unique you will want to take a seat and stare.

To avoid crowds go see it at night, it's amazing.

 Sagrada Familia

La Sagrada Familia is the infamous church that defines Barcelona.

A project that Gaudi started in the 1880s was interrupted after he died.

Since then it has been slowly under construction and remains unfinished.

I did not go inside because the line was ridiculously long,

but if you choose to I am sure it is absolutely worth every euro.

La Pedrera

Also known as Casa Mila,

La Pedrera is what I like to call the "wavy building."

It is known for its steel structure and curtain walls.

You can find this building not too far from the Gaudi House.

 Park Guell

This place is like an architectural candy land crawling with tourists!

Park entrance is free and you can take the bus or metro to find it.

While we were here it started to snow,

so we got shelter in one of his neat-o caves and buildings.

 Gaudi lamps in Placa Reial

Gaudi made lots of cool stuff in Spain.

These lamp posts are just another.

You can find them in the Placa Reial near La Rambla.

They remind me of Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin.

I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

All the Gaudi sites are free to see unless you go inside.

Be sure to visit them when you go, too!

BARCA GAME

destination: camp nou / tickets: 43 euros each / activity: soccer game / food: 4 euros

on saturday we went to the barcelona game! we followed the crowds in the streets and through the subway all the way to camp nou. we showed up almost two hours early because my hub was antsy in his pantsy to see his favorite team play. it was amazing being there in real life! i was able to spy on the plays with my handy binoculars. if you didn't watch the game on tv, barcelona won 2-1!

i think i burned a billion calories at this game. it was freezing! my delicious baguette hot dog with fancy mustard did take my mind off dying for a bit. the game ended around midnight and we walked home like a herd of sheep surrounded by barca fans. it was fantastic. 

TASTY TUESDAY - IN BARCELONA

since it's tasty tuesday i thought i'd share some traditional and delicious spain food. why don't we get three course meals in the states anyway? every time i think the meal is over another plate is comin'. 

you can find tapas everywhere in spain! tapas are basically finger foods or appetizers. i was kind of confused exactly what they were at first because i always got something different. this particular course was sizzling shrimp, breaded potatoes, a cheesy chicken wrap, and pistachio chocolate cake for dessert. 

 wow, these waffles were amazing! a friend of mine who lives in spain recommended this place, sweet goufre. mmmmm, they serve chocolatey-carmaley-fruity waffles with ice-cream and hot chocolate, and anything sweet! you can smell this place from outside on la rambla! i just followed my nose.

 i would seriously walk miles for this tasty treat (i did). in spain they serve churros with hot chocolate, and their hot chocolate is no swiss miss! it is thick, creamy, and pudding-like. i was the happiest girl in the world eating this, and couldn't get over it really. just ask my husband. when i go home i am looking for a recipe. i-want-in-my-mouth-right-now. and yes, it will keep you up all night!

FASHION IN BARCELONA

today i would like to do a spotlight post on the good looking people of spain. there are so many! i know some may be tourists, but i am often turning my head if ya know what i mean, hehe. i am also too afraid to ask strangers to take their picture, so here are my paparazzi-creepy-stalker pictures that i did capture while they weren't looking. spain's classy and functional fashion is keeping me inspired...
