CONNECTED ON THE GO: AERO -TRAY

5/6/14

From Lisa: What a unique product that I absolutely love. I have my own jewelry company and often choose to create outside in parks or on the beach. But in order to know what to make, I need a laptop or iPad to see the orders that have been placed. The Aero-Tray is the perfect product to make my life easier! I hated how I had to have my iPad laying on my blanket or prop it awkwardly in my lap, making me hot. I was always having to crouch, which was just uncomfortable. With the Aero-Tray, I can prop it at the perfect angle to take a quick glance at what I need to do with no fuss, knowing it is safe and secure. Whether sitting on the grass, on a table or in my lap it is incredibly convenient and easy to tote around.
c/o Aero-Tray

From Kylie: As a vagabond at heart, I am always on the go. I fly more times than I can count, and always seem to be cramming onto airplanes and weighing my luggage. On my shorter flights, I usually try to get some editing in. I am a photographer and videographer, and there's always projects to be working on. My experience editing on planes is just what you would imagine - I'm the lucky one sitting behind "that guy" who reclines 100% which leaves me about 6 inches to open my laptop and work with my screen basically folded/half closed. Or those lucky flights when you do have the allotted space, but the passenger in front of you suddenly makes a change of plans and launches their seat back with no warning and snaps your monitor.

The Aero-Tray is mobile and about the size of a laptop (like a coffee-table book)- so although it's a bit bulkier than I would like for my lighter traveling it has proved to be very useful for shorter trips where I'm not tight on carry-on space. I love that you can prop it up to its highest height, and with all that on your tray on the airplane you don't sacrifice your beloved cup holder because there is one built in! I love that. I definitely love my complimentary beverages and snacks, so having a tray that is easy to slide out is a game changer.

From Megan: The aero-tray is designed to double space in tight airplane seating, but we thought we'd test out other uses for it as well. My family and I go on a lot of road trips when we're not able to travel abroad, and this is something I love to use for watching movies in bed or reading (currently reading: Spots), or both! The aero-tray is the ultimate working station and can be used at home, on the airplane, in your hotel room, and pretty much anywhere you need an angle of support for your personal items. After taking some time to read the instructions for all the different positions this thing has, I was very impressed with not only its versatility but how high quality it is.

ADVENTURE IN BABY MOCCS

4/23/14

Look at my boy! He's getting so big! I cannot get over all his teeth and those adorable blue eyes (I'm bias). You know what the best part is? He has the perfect blue moccs to match! Van is 15 months old now and for some reason he has decided to avoid walking, but when the day comes he will have the perfect shoes ready for his walking adventures.

If you haven't heard already, these moccs by Freshly Picked are the best baby shoes around. Of all the baby shoes I've tried, this design is the only one that will stay on. They are made with a high quality genuine leather that is soft enough for infants and durable enough for toddlers. Van has been wearing moccs since he was 6 months old and they are definitely my go-to baby shoe. Plus, everybody will love them! There's just something so cute about a baby mocc.

Freshly Picked has been featured on the TV show Shark Tank, Parenting Magazine, IN TOUCH, US Weekly, People.com, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and Kourtney and Kim Take New York just to name a few. I look up to its owner, Susan Petersen, in so many ways and how she has made a small business so successful. I hope you check out her colorful collection of baby moccs. The camouflage pair is next on my wish list. Van would look so cute in them!

HOW TO: KEEP YOUR SKIN BEAUTIFUL DURING TRAVEL

4/10/14

It can be hard sometimes to keep your skin's healthy glow while traveling, especially in cold and dry places that make your skin itch or hot and tropical places where your skin needs the most protection. We have experimented with a few different products to help you know what to pack.

Previse Skincare is an all natural, eco-friendly customized skin care line that is perfect for travel. They provide a full line of products that contain natural ingredients that are beneficial for your entire body. It only takes a few minutes to complete their three step skincare regiment, perfect for when you're on the go. Another great bonus! They're all carry-on travel size!

Step 1.0 Purify- Replace your current cleanser with Previse Purify

Mmmm! So refreshing! I love washing my face with Previse because it's so natural and organic. You can totally FEEL the difference (and smell!) If your skin is still suffering from the Winter blues, dry and irritated, or maybe you got a little too much sun over the weekend - Previse Purify is mild and gentle on the skin, and also relieving. The wash is made with essential oils designed to relax and calm, washing away your anxiety and stress from a busy day traveling and commuting.

Step 2.0 Nutrify- Nourish your skin with Nutrify

Wow! From the second I dropped this onto my skin and gently rubbed it in I was amazed at how soft my skin immediately felt. I wasn't sure how much to use since it is in a droplet form, but I found a little went a long way. This moisturizer is perfect for tough skin places like your knuckles, knees, and elbows, but can be used all over. The smell was very mild if anything at all. I also have very sensitive skin so I am wary of the products I use to avoid rash breakouts, but I found no such problems with Previse Nutrify. It didn't leave my skin crying for more at the end of the day either [like some typical lotions do] because it helps promote new cell growth.

Step 3.0 Defend- Prevent skin damage and protect from sun exposure

As I've grown older, I've realized more and more the importance of sunscreen and preventing pre-mature age spots. Having lived in a tropical place and currently living beachside, I've put this to use daily and find comfort knowing my skin is protected. I apply step 3.0 right before putting on my make up. Its a nice little serum that absorbs beautifully into the skin without leaving any oily or greasy residue. Additionally, when I decide to go to the beach or hang out poolside, I bag the make up and go straight for the SPF 25. It contains zinc oxide, so does leave a slight white appearance, but it protects just the perfect amount that you won't get burnt but you will still go home feeling sun kissed.

Previse found a simple way to keep your skin healthy while traveling so you don't have to lug around big bottles of sun screen or lotion. We love a good product that will easily fit into our toiletry bags and enhances our natural beauty on the days where make-up and hair straightening is just not gonna happen. 2013 IN REVIEW

1/20/14

2013 was an amazing year for us! It brought many adventures that we have loved sharing with you here on this blog. We each feel so blessed with our lives thus far and hope to keep on embracing the good and sharing tid bits along the way. Here's to 2013's best moments!

JANUARY
To kick off a new year Megan HAD A BABY! So wonderful. I spent a week in Mexico lounging and exploring while the boys surfed the big waves and Kylie showed me the ins and outs of LA.

FEBRUARY
In February, being the month of love and all, we decided to make a video. Then Kylie took these AMAZING pictures while camping the California coast, while I checked out the Volcom Pipe Pro and Megan was busy introducing me to her brand new baby as I helped her move into a new house.

MARCH
All good things happen in March. Such as dreaming of where to go for spring break, which Megan did happily (well deserved from a new mama). Kylie was busy finding constellations and taking the most gorgeous photos (which are available for purchase) of a starry night at Joshua Tree and I was hiking' it up in Oahu.

APRIL
April was a fun month. My parents visited me in Hawaii and stayed at the most awesome beach hut on the North Shore. Kylie was busy preparing for her trip to film in Haiti and Megan was learning what it was like to eat out with a baby. Fun times.

MAY
Kylie got to spend 24 hours in New York then shortly after hopped on a plane to Hawaii to visit me for our birthday! All the while we were missing Megan every second as she was busy with her new baby and being a cute mommy. Either way, we each celebrated our Golden Birthday, 25 on the 25th!

JUNE
In June Kylie and I were busy frolicking around Hawaii's beaches getting super tan and eating delicious crepes. Since we love food so much and Ky is so awesome at making videos, she went ahead and made a fun video of a delicious meal to eat while camping. You're welcome. And lets not forget. Meg mastered the art of road tripping with a baby

JULY
Summer is the best time of year, so of course we spent it outside as much as possible. Kylie and I enjoyed exploring Spitting Caves and jumping off a fair amount of cliffs. Kylie also shared how to pack to move abroad, incredibly helpful. And our Megs took a beautiful and much needed road trip to our family cabin in Cascade. What a treat!

AUGUST
I spent my sunny days underwater, falling in love with the art of "shelling". Kylie spread the good word of an awesome sandal from Rope Souls and Megan was busy promoting her business at a trade show in Vegas, which got her into many awesome stores including Anthropologie and Free People. Amazing.

SEPTEMBER
DAY DREAMING oh wait THIS IS REAL. Kylie reminisced about her wonderful summer living in Hawaii while Meg was sure to document her many fun "van ventures" and I shared a tidbit about our trip to the Oregon Coast.

OCTOBER
October was cool. We love the fall and the change of the leaves (for those of us who have seasons). I beach hopped and dove into beautiful tide pools (i know), Kylie made the most dreamy Hawaii video in all the land, and Megan made a stellar beginner's camp guide and went to the cutest corn maze. Oh and don't worry. We all dressed up for Halloween.

NOVEMBER
What a beautiful month this was in Idaho. Kylie got to visit Megan and explore the beautiful rivers fishing with the Hollenbacks. Megan and Drew were sure to teach her the ancient art of fishing with Tenkara. Kylie also began sharing her touching and beautiful videos of her stay in Haiti, while I was lucky enough to meet one of our readers in Hawaii!

DECEMBER
OUR FAVORITE MONTH! Christmas was nearing but before the holidays got too crazy, I moved from my aina home on Oahu back to the mainland and now reside in Southern California. I had to soak up the beautiful island days before they ended. Back in Idaho Meg was attending all the Christmas events she could, patiently awaiting the arrival of Kylie and I. And Kylie was able to squeeze in a quick weekend getaway cruise to Mexico

Shortly following, we all three met up in Idaho for Christmas and enjoyed a solid 3-4 weeks together! 2014, we are ready for ya!

PRODUCT REVIEW: CLEVER TRAVEL COMPANION

10/2/13

Nothing says handy quite like underwear with compartments! I myself am a money belt fan (you know the things, they're super nerdy and quite fabulous --> found here). I'm all about hidden nooks and crannies and keeping my valuables safe and on my body at all times when traveling. It gives me peace of mind to know I know where everything is, and it's even more alluring to know that I can hide it somewhere most people aren't interested in snooping (ok that sounds bad, but you know what I mean!)

When Clever Travel Companions approached us about their long john underwear, I knew I had to try it. There are zipper pockets to seal your belongings and you can layer your clothes over them normally for those cooler adventures you're bound to have during the Fall/Winter seasons.
Long Johns c/o Clever Travel Companion

Product: Theft Protection Long Johns / Cost: $23.90

Super softy and comfortable, and fit like high-waisted leggings. I'm wearing a size XS and they're perfect. How much do you want to try these now? It's a good idea for your holiday travels!

PRODUCT REVIEW: ROPE SOULS

sandals c/o RopeSouls

Raise your hand if you love shoes (hands in the air). We kinda-sorta-definitely have an obsession with all things shoe. Sandals, especially. RopeSouls are awesome for a number of reasons including the following:

1. Comfort

Nothing sucks more than a shoe that hurts. Especially whilst traveling and wandering out and about. We want a shoe that fits, and feels good. RopeSouls mold to your feet and slip on and off easily. Nice.

2. Freedom

Huh? We're talking about breathability and flexibility. RopeSouls let your feetsies breathe in the natural air and get some major oxygen flowage. Sometimes feet just wanna get out of those socks and be free! They're also totally down with getting wet and pretty much go with everything. Naturally.

3. Travel size

They're small, flat and very pack-friendly. They're also super lightweight which makes them grand to travel with. I'd say that's a win-win situation.

We give RopeSouls two thumbs up. Check them out for yourself!
