If you're looking for a killer campground in Big Sur, Kirk Creek is one of the most popular and books up months in advance. I was lucky enough to snag us a spot just a month before schedule, and it was what I like to call "prime real estate." Kirk Creek is an oceanside paradise, with views of the sea to unzip your tent to when you wake up. It was a peaceful night camping cliffside, and we did some poking around in the morning making sure to dodge the ever so rampant poison oak (pictured above). It's close to several trailheads for hiking, and the infamous Sand Dollar Beach to explore, hike and surf. There are said to be foxes, bob cats, deer and raccoons but we only saw some squirrels, ground hogs and a few cotton-tailed bunnies. One of those darling bunnies hopped around our tent all night and Lisa about had a heart attack imagining some big carnivorous creature, haha (sorry, sis).
