HOW TO: TRAVELING DURING A LAYOVER

5/1/13

On her way to Haiti, Kylie had an unexpected layover in New York. We have always wanted to see New York together, but looks like she beat us to it! The airline put her in a hotel for the night since their connection flight got delayed- giving her one day to explore the city. Obviously there is way too much to see in such short time, but we'll leave it to Kylie to share what she did.

Traveling during a layover can be the perfect opportunity to see somewhere new, but how much time do you need? If you have a long layover in your travel itinerary, plan ahead quick stops of what you'd like to see and make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get back to the airport. Find a hotel or cheap place to stay and leave your bags. Relax and don't try to cram a million things to do in such a tight schedule. See what it's like to be a local for a day. Explore the streets, go to the market, visit with people- these every day encounters often make the most memorable travel experiences.
