Destination: Leo Carillo Campsite / Accommodation: $35 per night / Distance from LA: about 1 hour
We spent the hours of the late afternoon setting up camp. After everything was ready, we crossed beneath the highway to the coastline and wandered the beaches, crawling over rocks and tide pools and finally settling on the point of a lookout. Leo Carillo is gorgeous! Hands down one of my favorite beaches and places to go.
Leo Carillo is really close to surf breaks like County Line and pretty pull-outs like Mugu Rock. You can make your camping reservation online in advance on Reserve America. It does get a bit chilly during the winter at nights, so bring lots of layers and plenty of firewood! Get your camp vibes on.
Kylie, I'm not sure if you've already done a post like this and I just haven't gone back far enough...but I always enjoy looking at your camp photos because that's mine and my boyfriends favorite thing to do! And I would love to see a "How we camp" post with all your camping gear! We are always looking at new tents, packs, trails, etc. :) Sara
ReplyDeletewe have done a few things like that, for example in our "how to" section on the right sidebar, i posted about girlie items: http://www.travelingtriplets.com/2012/04/lady-camping-must-haves.html
Deleteis there something in particular you're interested in hearing about that i bring along? (equipment, or?) i've mentioned my tent here: http://www.travelingtriplets.com/2010/07/look-closely.html
let me know if you have something specific and i'll get started on it. i looove this idea. let me work on that and i'll share it on the blog soon! thanks for the idea!
haha, ya know.. right after i posted this i found a few of those posts :) BUT, since you guys camp so much and all, it would be interesting to see what you bring for certain trips. kind of like a "what i wore" picture. i know for us if we're camping we always have our marmot tent, eno's, and stanley gear. but for day hikes it's different. now i reaaally want to camp. i just moved back to nashville from charleston, sc (beach life) and am dying to camp in the mountains!
DeleteI love this. It's my dream to quit our jobs and spend a summer just camping along the California coast...
ReplyDeleteLoving these! By the way, have you ever done a photo tutorial? I'd love to know how you get your pics to look so crisp and clear. Good work!!!!
ReplyDeletei have not. thanks for the idea!
