HOW TO: PACK FOR A MIXED TRIP

2/1/12

today we are packing and getting ready for our trip to europe tomorrow! this trip is unlike any other trip we've been on. we won't be backpacking and staying in hostels or driving and staying in hotels. so bye bye hiking pack and rolly suitcase. europe is what we call a "mixed trip". a little bit of moving around and a little bit of stability. we will be staying in apartments for about a week at a time we booked ahead via airbnb, and the most functional way we found to pack is the versatile and roomy duffel.
isn't my bag adorable? i just love it. but i am a little bummed because it is a size medium, and i can't seem to fit my shoes or floppy hat! we are currently debating what to do about this small dilemma. anyway, the cool thing about this bag besides it's cuteness is it can be used as a carry on (no checking luggage) and you can wear it like a backpack when you are traveling. handy.
this is drew's awesome duffel. right now you can only order it online. it is huge with plenty of room to spare. it is a basic durable duffel with two top zip compartments in the lid when opened. it has handles all around for easy toting and straps for when you need to pack it around instead of lifting weights.
our third and final bag is our travel camera bag. we chose a backpack style because i think a sling bag gets annoying. right now i have my canon in there, three lenses, a gopro camera, a film camera, laptop, and all the cords and chargers. it has a top opening for your camera, a back opening for easy access, and straps on the side to hold your tripod. since this is the bag i always have on me, i keep important things in there as well like my budget notebook, passports, and mula. yep, nobody better touch this bag!

i plan on answering other questions we have received along the way so don't you worry! traveling triplets would highly recommend any of these bags for your packing convenience. happy travels!

  4. Just began reading this blog! Loving it so much! You guys are keeping me so inspired. I love the North Face duffle...it might look silly if I were wearing my North Face raincoat of the same shade though.
