traveling triplets checklist for a good pack:
1- medium size with side/lower compartments
2- removable top/fanny pack for day hikes or extra storage
3- bladder compartment for your camel back
4- rain cover
5- internal framing, of course (be sure to have the pack fitted to you!)
6- side/bottom zipper to access pack so you don't always have to dig from the top
you'll find these things quite useful. nothing is more annoying than having to UNPACK what you packed just to dig for that shirt at the bottom of your pack. a medium pack is ideal because we all know the bigger you have, the more crap you collect. just remember, everything you pack you carry on your back!
